The Humanitarian Coalition is extremely concerned by the escalation of violence in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel, and the catastrophic repercussions this violence is having on innocent lives. Thousands of civilians -- including children -- are suffering as a result of countless attacks, hunger, dehydration, sickness and the absence of healthcare and humanitarian assistance. In Gaza, water, food, fuel and medical supplies are running out and thousands of people are now at risk.
Latest estimates in Gaza indicate that 5,791 people have been killed and over 16,297 are injured. Access to necessities such as food, water, fuel and medical supplies has been almost completely cut off. More than one million people have been forced to leave their homes to escape the fighting.
Hospitals in Gaza have been badly damaged, leaving many with no electrical service and facing shortages of critical medical supplies. The loss of medical facilities and infrastructure is putting vulnerable people such as pregnant women and infants at higher risk. Humanitarian needs are also growing in the West Bank.

Countries
A major humanitarian emergency usually involves death, displacement and destruction on a large scale. When the situation is of particular interest to Canadians and Canadian media, the Humanitarian Coalition brings twelve of Canada’s leading aid agencies together to inform and solicit Canadians.
When a humanitarian crisis is more localized, affects fewer people or generates less public interest, the Humanitarian Coalition remains ready to respond through its member organizations, with the support of Global Affairs Canada through the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund.
Our members are active 24/7 in many different countries, responding to the humanitarian needs as disasters unfold. You can read more about these crises, or make a donation directly to one of our agencies to help them deliver life-saving aid.
